UE : Public Nutrition (« PN»)

Goal and Content

The principal goal is to present :

  • The problems of public health linked at the diet and the nutrition, especially in Southern Societies : nature ; scale and distribution in the population ; determining and consequences ;
  • The programs and strategies of prevention and intervention, and the nutritional policies, intended to remedy it.

Problem of public health linked at the diet and the nutrition :
   Diet and nutrition in the world ;
   Dietary/nutritional Security  ;
   Sustainable n utrition ;
   N utritional transition ;
   Economic et sociocultural determinants of eating behaviours ;
   Under-nutrition of the mother and of the young child ;
   Malnutritions in emergency situation ;
   Deficiencies in micronutrients ;
    Chronic diseases related to diet in Southern countries

Programs and strategies of prevention and intervention :
   Strategies against the malnutritions ;
   Education at the nutrition in Southern countries ;
   Programs against the acute malnutrition ;
   Fight against the deficiencies in micronutriments ;
   Observation and prevention of the obesity and Chronic diseases  in South ;
   Programmatic Approach for the  implementation of strategies against the malnutritions .

Commentaries

Prerequisites: notions of general nutrition and questions of development.

The lessons are given by researchers and engineers of recherche institutes (IRD, Cirad, Inserm, INRA…), teachers of public health and professionals stem from the civil society (ONG) or from organizations of United States.
